When photographers Ollie Trenchard and Ash Narod approached us to do a photoshoot to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020, we couldn’t say no: representation is a big deal for us, and in the last two years, this mission has helped to ensure the Collective grows into a close community of empowered women from all walks of life. We had a blast on shoot day, and we couldn’t have asked for a better set of images that capture of the essence of who were are. Check out Who Run The World? 2020 below, along with encouraging quotes for International Women’s Day and beyond:
“In 2020, I hope that more women step out of their comfort zones” – Kacherelle
“In 2020, I would like to see women embracing who they are and doing exactly what they want to do, and not worry about anybody’s opinions. It’s your life and you should live it as you want to. As long as you’ve got a good kind heart and your intentions are right, go for it!” – Ava
“My hope for women in 2020 is to step ever closer to equality” – Addy
“My hopes for women in 2020 is that we can expand our definition of womanhood, and allow women to define what womanhood is for them” – Zachi
“I don’t feel I would be where I am now if it wasn’t for my mentors, people speaking into (my life) and helping me – and even my mentees. So my hope for women is that we just support one another, be allies, and just grow together” – Amaeze
“A woman that inspires me is Zoe Adjonyoh (of Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen). I love her brain, her creativity and way she champions women in food” – Benjamina
“I love being a member of Fly Girl Collective. It’s the best decision I ever made to join a year ago, and here I am a year later, doing things I’d never thought I’d be able to do. I hope that in 2020, more women can find their tribe and start smashing their goals” – Anthea
“For 2020, I want women to continue with that strength that we’ve got” – Kele
“My wish for women in 2020 is to be strong in knowing themselves and strong in being themselves” – Niesha
“In 2020, I want to see more women recognise that it’s a duty and privilege to sharpen, inspire, encourage and motivate one another – to really be our sister’s keeper. I can name many women who did the same for me, so I know I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for them. As the saying goes, because of them we can!” – Matilda
