FAQs

Who’s leading the retreat?

That would be me, Matilda Egere-Cooper, the founder of Fly Girl Collective! As someone in the running and wellness game for a while, I’m all about empowering Black women and women of colour to give you the confidence and tools to be your absolute best.

Who’s the retreat for?

This retreat is specially crafted for Black women and women of colour who are all about embracing wellness and open to making new connections. Whether you love walking, running, stretching, or even biking (which is totally optional), this retreat is for you.

How many people are attending?

For this first-ever retreat, it will be just 8 guests so we can focus on quality connections. Future retreats might expand, but for now, we’re keeping it intimate.

What are the rooms like?

Think rustic, quaint, and utterly charming! Our accommodations are nestled on the grounds of an original 16th-century farm that’s been modernised for a luxe, country home feel. You’ll be staying in ‘field barns’ complete with everything you need for a comfy stay: fantastic rain showers, rose-scented toiletries, fully-equipped kitchens, TVs, soft robes, dreamy beds, and snug sitting areas.

Can I come if I’ve got special dietary needs?

Absolutely. We’re working with the on-site restaurant to cater to all needs. Plus, the reason our accommodations have kitchens is so you can bring along anything special you might require.

What should I pack?

Full details will be provided once you’ve registered, but consider comfortable clothes, fitness outfits and swimwear for the spa.

Can I book with a buddy or fly solo?

Whether you’re part of the Fly Girl Collective community or flying solo, you’re welcome. If you’re booking a double room, we’ll find you the perfect roomie.

What if my plans change after I’ve paid my deposit?

If you can’t make it, no worries. As deposits are non-refundable, you can transfer your spot to someone else for a £25 fee. The new guest will take care of any remaining payments.

When should I make travel plans to Suffolk?

You’ll get all the retreat details by March, giving you plenty of time to book your train to Ipswich, the nearest station. Tickets are usually around £50.

How do I get to the retreat location?

We’ve arranged a transfer to pick you up with the other guests at a set time.

What if I miss the transfer?

If you miss the transfer, you’ll need to catch a taxi to the venue, which should be around £20.

What’s the food like?

Get ready for some culinary delights! The onsite restaurant serves up fresh, organic, and locally-sourced meals. We’ve got set menus planned out for lunch and dinner, and if you have any food intolerances or allergies, just let us know when you register.

Do I have to take part in all of the activities?

No pressure at all! While we encourage you to try them, there’s absolutely no obligation. We’ve planned activities to suit all fitness levels, ensuring the retreat is as relaxing and fun as possible. There will also be free time.

Can I work and study here?

We encourage you to leave your laptops behind and stay as device-free as possible. It’s all about immersing yourself fully in the retreat experience.

What about booze: Are we drinking?

Alcohol isn’t included in your fee, so any drinks during meal times will be on you. We encourage responsible consumption.
